Culture
The “Svetlina 1928” Community Cultural Centre in Bryastovets was founded in 1928. Its building was constructed in 1958 on the site of a former dairy. The cultural centre has a year-round programme focusing on the culture, customs and traditions of the foreign residents who live permanently in Bryastovets.
The Church of Saint Athanasius in Bryastovets is recorded as dating from 1870. It is also included in photographer Radoslav Parvanov’s project, which aims to make its condition publicly known and raise funds for its restoration.
Nature
The Bryastovets–Draganovo–Izvorishte Forest Park is recognised as a landmark by Burgas Municipality. It occupies the southeastern slopes of the Aitos Mountains, which form part of the eastern section of the Stara Planina.
The forest associated with this forest park helps protect Lake Atanasovsko and the salt pans northeast of Burgas from flooding. Lake Atanasovsko is a managed reserve and a Ramsar Convention site.
Connections
Route 32 runs from Burgas via Izvorishte and Bryastovets to Draganovo. The road network also includes several connections: Route III-6009 runs from the Kableshkovo–Burgas/Cherno More–Rudnik corridor towards Miroulyubovo and Bryastovets. Municipal road BGS2040 continues the connection from the Miroulyubovo–Bryastovets road to Draganovo.
Routes
A cycling route continues from Bryastovets with a panoramic descent to Lake Atanasovsko and includes a lunch stop at a snack bar in Bryastovets.
An excursion route leads through Rudnik and Bryastovets to Izvorishte. The excursion includes a three-kilometre forest walk around Izvorishte with panoramic views of Burgas Bay and the lakes.
