Nature

The Erma Gorge is located about four kilometers from Tran. It was designated a natural monument and protected area in 1961. Its rock walls are approximately 150 to 200 meters high.

Vrabcha Waterfall is about five meters high and cascades into a small pool. A picnic area with tables and benches is located among the rocks near the waterfall.

Activities

More than ten alpine climbing routes have been established on the rocks of the Erma Gorge. From the gorge, the Tran Eco Trail can be followed for about three kilometers to Bankya.

The Zabel–Ruy–Lomnitsa–Bankya–Tran–Zabel route is a 38-kilometer mountain biking loop. It runs mainly through the Ruy Mountains, passes by the Erma Gorge, and makes a small loop through the Ezdimirska Mountains.

Culture

The Tran Building School is associated with master builders who shaped the appearance of cities in the Balkans during the National Revival period in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The Saint Petka rock chapel in Tran is a prehistoric sanctuary carved out of the rock that functions as a chapel. The chapel has a panoramic platform overlooking Tran and the surrounding area.

The Tran area is also associated with local crafts connected with everyday life.

Regional specialties

At the Yogurt Museum in Studen Izvor, visitors can taste yogurt prepared according to local traditions and recipes. The Businska Ceramics Museum complex in Busintsi is described as one of Bulgaria's oldest pottery centers.
