Geographical Setting

Rashkovo lies at the foot of the Rzhana Mountains, which form part of the Balkan Mountains. The settlement is laid out in an amphitheatrical manner and is generally situated above the fog that gathers over the Botevgrad Valley.

The documented local history of Rashkovo dates back to the Hellenic era. According to local tradition, the settlement has existed since 1480. Descriptions mention 24 Thracian burial mounds in Rashkovo.

The Church of the Ascension of the Lord is a single-nave building with one apse, two domes, and a bell tower. A chandelier in the church was donated by Tsar Boris III; Spasovden is its patronal feast.

The local Saznanie 1920 community center is registered for the year 1920, and its library is still in existence.

Connections

Rashkovo is connected to Litakovo via third-class road III-161. The settlement is also located on the alternative Botevgrad–Mezdra road.

A route described as a mountain biking trail runs via Botevgrad, Kraevo, Osenovlag, Eliseyna, Zverino, and Rashkovo before returning to Botevgrad.
