Mramor: Hotels and Accommodation

A settlement already existed at the site of present-day Mramor during Thracian times.

Culture

The Orthodox Church of All Saints in Mramor dates back to 1887. Three Thracian altars have been preserved in the churchyard of Mramor. Remains of a settlement lie in the Manastira area, approximately 2 km northwest of Mramor.

The Chitalishte St Ivan Rilski–1922 was founded in Mramor on 11 May 1922. The women's folk group Shopska Pletanitsa was founded at the chitalishte in 1996. The Zora Dance Club focuses on Bulgarian folk dances from all ethnographic regions and takes part in folklore festivals throughout Bulgaria.

The Todorovden festival in Mramor includes horse races as well as ensembles performing folk songs and dances. The celebrations also include ritual breads known as “konche” or “kopito”.

Nature

The Mramor Reservoir protected area is located in the territory of Mramor, in the Vrabnitsa district of Sofia Municipality. It preserves a lake ecosystem that provides a habitat for around 200 valuable and protected bird species.
