Vladaya: Hotels and Accommodation
Vladaya provides hiking access to the northwestern part of Vitosha. One route leads from the village along the Vladaiska River to Zlatni Mostove; over 5 km, it gains about 500 m in elevation and also branches off to Selimitsa Hut and nearby recreational facilities.
Nature
The Vladaiska River flows down through a deep, steep and forested valley towards Vladaya. The route from Vladaya to the White Birches recreation home passes through a mixed forest of Scots pine and naturally regenerating deciduous trees.
Trails
On the Vladaya–Zlatni Mostove route, about 10 minutes above the water intake, there is a rest area with a fire pit, benches and tables. The Vladaya–Zlatni Mostove route takes about 1 hour 30 minutes and climbs 560 m.
The Vladaya–Ostritsa Hut route takes about 2 hours 40 minutes and climbs 811 m. It passes through dense old-growth forest, where fallen trees, shrubs and tall vegetation can make progress nearly impossible.
The route from Vladaya to the White Birches recreation home takes about 1 hour 30 minutes and climbs 495 m. The White Birches Trail ends on Vladaya Avenue in the direction of Tihiya Nook. It is 3.2 km long, descends 440 m and is rated as technically highly difficult.
Other described trails include the route from Vladaya to Selimitsa Hut, which takes about 3 hours 15 minutes, and the approximately 40-minute route from Vladaya to the St Ivan Rilski site.
Culture and History
The Monastery of St Petka in Vladaya stands at the foot of the Lyulin Mountains, opposite Vladaya railway station and about 1 km from Vladaya. It was founded during the Second Bulgarian Empire and destroyed by crusaders in 1328. The Monastery of Vladaya is an active convent.
A local tradition associates the St Ivan Rilski site with monks who spent the night there while carrying the relics of a saint to the Rila Monastery.

Vladaya is served by bus route 59 from Knyazhevo.
