Lyava Reka is the starting point of the 15-kilometre Lyava Reka–Predela ecological trail. The route is described as taking approximately eight hours and connecting to the international Kom–Predela–Emine hiking trail. Landscape

Lyava Reka lies in the Stara Planina mountain range and on a river originating in the mountains. To the north and south, the village is bordered by mountain slopes covered with deciduous and coniferous vegetation.

Mechata Dupka is designated as a natural monument in Lyava Reka; Mileva Stena is also designated as a natural monument there. At Mechata Dupka, entering, driving through and parking motor vehicles are prohibited. Mileva Stena protects a rock formation. Quarrying, mining and geological activities that damage the natural appearance or water regime of Mileva Stena are prohibited.

Siniya Vir is associated in Lyava Reka with a waterfall and a pool on the Drenevska River. Placheshata Skala is recognised in Lyava Reka as a site of local natural value. Mileva Stena partially or completely overlaps with the protected buffer zone “Central Balkan”.

Geographical Location

The turn-off to Lyava Reka is located at the Haineboaz Pass. The sign indicating this turn-off is in Pchelinovo; the road from there to Lyava Reka is approximately 3 kilometres long.
