Petrova Gora is crossed by deep ravines and is rich in streams and numerous sources of drinking water. The central part of Petrova Gora has been protected as a significant landscape since 1969. Petrovac Ornithological Park is located on the summit. A signposted trail with information panels explains the birds that live there; there is also an observation tower from which birds and other animals can be watched.

The Petrova Gora hiking and circular trail consists of a red and a green trail. Each trail is listed as taking four hours to walk, and both start and end at Lovački dom Muljava. The green trail runs from an educational trail via Rimski put to the Petrovac plateau. Along the way, it passes historic sites on Veliki and Mali Petrovac and descends to Kraljev grob.

A shorter option is the “Rimski put” educational trail, a 2,600-metre circular route. It runs at an elevation of 230 to 320 metres through dense beech, sessile oak and chestnut forest, and also starts and ends at Lovački dom Muljava. The Petrovac Monument stands on Veliki Petrovac, is 37 metres tall and can be reached by car or bus via a paved road. Stari Grad Krstinja can be reached by a footpath from the paved road or via a gravel road.

In the southern part of the Municipality of Vojnić, the remains of the medieval town of Klokoč lie on a hill above the village of Klokoč. The remains of the Pauline Monastery of St. Peter are on Mali Petrovac. It was founded in 1303 or 1304 and is considered one of Croatia’s oldest Pauline monasteries.

Another chapter of history is found in the Petrova Gora area of Pišin gaj: the Central Partisan Hospital Complex lies in the forest there. Construction began in 1942 and was completed in 1943; by then, the complex comprised 32 buildings. Part of the cylindrical tower of the medieval fortress Otmić Grad has survived. These sites add medieval and more recent history to the municipality’s nature offerings.

The Gljivarijada, held every October, is dedicated to mushrooms. The exhibition includes edible and inedible species, offering a specific opportunity to explore the diversity of mushrooms. Visitors can enjoy pancakes with blueberry sauce on the terrace of Lovački dom Muljava.
