Nature
Seline lies between a pebble beach and the Mala Paklenica Gorge. The Mala Paklenica Gorge is known for its wilderness and preserved nature. Its rock walls reach up to 300 metres in height, while some sections are no more than 10 metres wide.
Orientation
Entrance 2 of Paklenica National Park is located in Seline, in front of the Mala Paklenica Gorge. Tickets purchased at Entrance 2 are valid for Entrance 1 of Paklenica National Park.
Paths
Promenades as well as walking and cycling paths connect Seline with Starigrad and lead through picturesque hamlets in the mountainous hinterland. The 8-km-long “Short Journey Through the Past” path is classified as easy, designed for pedestrians and cyclists, and connects Starigrad with Seline.
The walking and cycling path through the mountainous hinterland passes old hamlets and offers views of the Velebit Channel. From every hamlet along the path, visitors can descend to the coast and swim in the sea.
Culture and History
A tourist map of the Mirila educational trails is available at the tourist information centre in Seline. In the centre of Seline, on Put bunarića, there is an old well built using traditional dry-stone walling techniques.
The medieval Church of St Peter is located next to the Adriatic Coastal Road between Starigrad and Seline. It was built in the pre-Romanesque Old Croatian style, probably at the transition from the ninth to the tenth century, archaeologically investigated and completely restored.
Along the path connecting Seline with the hinterland, stone wells and village cisterns from the Austro-Hungarian period can be seen. A stone dam from one of the old mills has also been preserved in Mala Paklenica. In the surrounding area, the Mirila are protected cultural property of the Republic of Croatia.
The former main village cistern near the hamlet of Jurline was built during the Austro-Hungarian period.
