Kupari: Hotels and Accommodation

Nature

A sandy beach approximately 400 metres long is located in Kupari on Župa Bay.

History

Toreta, a fortified house built by Orsat Đurđević in 1623, has been preserved in Kupari and served to defend against pirates.

Kupari was first recorded as Criepi in 1440. The name referred to a local workshop for producing bricks; the present name is derived from the Italian translation of the same term.

Organised tourism developed from the late 1910s onwards. Construction of the first hotel, Štrand, began in 1919. The former brickworks and the former manor house were converted into the Grand Hotel, and a palm-lined park was also created.
