Lovorno: Hotels and accommodations

Anyone wishing to book a hotel in Lovorno can continue searching for accommodation afterward. Lovorno contains the best-preserved section of this water supply system. The preserved aqueduct section shows that the channel was vaulted; the ancient water supply route runs through Lovorno between Ljuta and Pridvorje.

Culture and history

During a reconstruction of the Velika Gospa Church at the beginning of the 20th century, an ancient funerary stele was excavated in Lovorno. The rectangular stele is made of limestone. Lovorno has three churches: St Anne, St Elijah, and Velika Gospa.

The Church of St Anne, with its cemetery, is a single-nave Baroque building with a bell gable, porch, and apse. The Church of St Anne in upper Lovorno was built in the 16th or 17th century. Stećci depicting a shield and sword are recorded at the Church of St Elijah in Lovorno. These stećci belong to a medieval burial tradition that in Konavle is frequently dated to the 14th and 15th centuries.

The Velika Gospa celebration in Lovorno includes a procession from the parish church of St Sergius and St Bacchus to the Church of Velika Gospa. This procession is an old custom in Konavle. Lovorno also has two religious brotherhoods dedicated to St Anne and Velika Gospa. The grounds of the Church of Velika Gospa lie close to the path of the aqueduct above a fertile field; tegula fragments and building material can be found in the area around the church.

Regional cuisine

Kameni Dvori in Lovorno offers tastings and the purchase of homemade wine, Malvasia, Merlot, extra virgin olive oil, sweets, and liqueurs. Green or white menestra is available there by prior arrangement. Kameni Dvori in Lovorno is also associated with Lovorno skewers, a traditional dish.
