Culture and History

A prehistoric hilltop settlement is recorded on Ilijin vrh above Poljice. Archaeological finds provisionally date the hillfort on Ilijin vrh to the Early and Middle Bronze Age, approximately 2150–1300 BC.

The hilltop church of St. Ilija dates from the 14th century and was renovated in 1995. The medieval hilltop church and cemetery on Ilijin vrh were enclosed by a dry-stone wall; around a dozen tombstones stand nearby, including several stećak tombstones. Four stone roadside crosses stand near the hilltop church, one of which is integrated into the church façade.

The Church of St. Anne in Poljice is a funerary church within a medieval necropolis. The Glavić residential and agricultural complex in Poljice is listed as protected cultural heritage under the designation Z-959.

Hiking

A marked hiking trail leads through Poljice to the summit of St. Ilija on Čista gora. The longer ascent from Bačev do to the 562 m-high summit is 5.5 km long and is described as a mountaineering ascent.

Coast

Uvala Čelinska in Poljice is designated as a natural beach.
