Čilipi: Hotels and Accommodation

Since 1967, folklore performances have been held every Sunday in Čilipi from Palm Sunday until the end of October, in the square in front of the parish church of St. Nicholas. Čilipi lies on the southwestern edge of the Konavle Field at an altitude of 184 metres; Dubrovnik Airport is located near Čilipi.

Culture

The Konavle County Museum is located in the centre of Čilipi in a former village treasury built in 1909. Its ethnographic collection presents tangible and intangible traces of traditional life in Konavle and also includes embroidery samples related to traditional needlework. The collection contains around 700 objects.

On display are traditional costumes, embroidery and textile handicrafts, jewellery, weapons, musical instruments, paintings, photographs and household items. Temporary exhibitions on the tangible and intangible heritage of Konavle are held on the ground floor; the museum also offers lectures, educational programmes, publications and multimedia content.

The parish church of St. Nicholas dates from the 19th century, while its bell tower dates back to 1898. After Sunday Mass at 11:15 a.m., KUD Čilipi presents the customs of Konavle through song and dance in the square in front of the parish church of St. Nicholas.

Rural Life and Cuisine

Seoska kuća in Čilipi portrays rural life through a garden with agricultural produce, domestic animals, a small ethnographic museum and a wine cellar.

According to its description, the food at Seoska kuća is rooted in the tradition of Konavle and is prepared from fresh local ingredients, preferably home-grown, according to a family recipe.

Hiking and Cycling

The Cavtat–Močići–Čilipi hiking trail runs through the coastal landscape of Konavle and is 8 kilometres long. It has connections to swimming areas on the cliffs of Konavle. The trail is described as suitable for recreational hikers because its elevation remains approximately constant along the route.

A signposted 25-kilometre circular route starts at the main square in Čilipi and leads through Gruda, Ljuta and Pridvorje. It combines asphalt and gravel surfaces, involves approximately 270 metres of elevation gain and is described as suitable for trekking and mountain bikes.
