The official 513 Tartufina cycling route is a challenging 34.7-kilometre trail with 780 metres of elevation gain. Of this, 12.5 kilometres are on asphalt and 22.2 kilometres are on gravel. The route leads from Buzet via Sovinjak and Istarske toplice back to Buzet.

The official Parenzana cycling route also runs through the wider region, from Savudrija via Buje, Grožnjan, Livade and Motovun to Vižinada.

Landscape and nature

The wider Buzet/Buzeština area is described as a landscape combining valleys, gorges, hills, mountains and wooded terrain. At the same time, it is referred to as part of White Istria; the name refers to the steep white limestone cliffs of the Ćićarija.

Culture and history

In the surrounding area, the hundred-year-old Church of St. Helen in Sovinjska Brda was restored. The work involved the roof, interior walls, windows and altar.

The parish church of Sovinjak was built in 1927 on the site of an earlier church dating from 1556; its bell tower dates from 1557. The Župa sv. Jurja mučenika in Sovinjak lists Bartolići among its settlements. The parish of Sovinjak was founded in 1645.

The Church of St. Rocco in the surrounding area dates from the 15th century and contains a fresco by Domenico of Udine from 1571.
