Culture and History

The townscape includes former elements of Dvigrad, including a stone slab depicting two birds and the year 1245. Dvigrad, which can be reached via the official route through Mrgani, is a protected cultural monument with chapels and churches dating from the Byzantine and Baroque periods.

Cycling

The official “Captain Morgan and the Ghost Town” cycling route passes through Mrgani and follows a circular course via Kanfanar, Žminj, Limska draga, Barat, Mrgani, Dvigrad and back to Kanfanar. This cycling route is suitable for mountain bikes, electric bicycles and trekking bikes.

Cycling route 282, the “Tour of Kanfanar”, also passes through Mrgani. It follows a circular course via Kanfanar, Vrsar and the Lim Channel back to Kanfanar.

Landscape

The Soardo-Bembo Palace, Škaraba, Sveti Mihovil, Sveti Andrija, Veliki Breg, Veštar and Otočić Pulari are located in the area surrounding Mrgani.

Mrgani lies approximately halfway between Kanfanar and the Lim Channel, near the ruins of Dvigrad.
