History

The former Kanfanar–Rovinj railway line was in operation from September 20, 1876, to October 20, 1966. Its corridor included four railway stations and 14 gatekeeper's houses and is now used as a cycling and walking path. The official Štrika-Ferata cycling and walking route, which forms part of this former railway corridor, also runs through the Sošići cadastral municipality. The recorded route is 22.6 kilometers long, classified as easy, and includes 20.6 kilometers of gravel surface.

Culture

Maklavun is located on the road to Rovinj near Sošići. There is a Bronze Age burial mound there, estimated to be 3,500 to 4,000 years old. The site includes a tholos burial chamber and a dromos. Maklavun is also interpreted as a possible solar observatory; this is based on the alignment of the entrance facing the winter solstice.
