Polje: Hotels and accommodations

Polje is one of the older settlements of Dobrinjština. The village is the birthplace of Ivan Črnčić, a priest, educator, philologist, Slavist, and historian associated with research into the Baška tablet and the wider Croatian Glagolitic heritage.

Culture

Dr. Ivan Črnčić is credited with initiating Polje’s first organized primary school. He financed the building himself. In Polje, the local festival Mala Gospoja is celebrated on September 8.

The surroundings of Polje include Fulfinum Forum, Fulfinum Mirine, Biserujka, Fortičina Omisalj, Plaža Pesja, the island of Krk, Maltempo Fort, and Beach Vela Riva.

Landscape

The old landing place on the Druženin peninsula of Polje is treated as part of the cultivated landscape. Polje is located directly next to Šilo and is associated by the municipality with rural tourism; Šilo is described as an attractive summer holiday resort.

Hiking

The Putevima Dobrinjštine circular hiking trail passes through Polje and continues to Žestilac. At the exit from Polje, there is a Gumno beside the path. It is a circular, levelled platform bordered by a low stone wall that historically served for threshing grain. It was also used for harvest celebrations, community gatherings, and local decision-making.
