Culture and history

The historic Dubašnica area, to which Ljutići belongs, was established between 1451 and 1463 through the settlement of Croatian and Vlach families from the mainland by Ivan VII Frankapan. The area also became a refuge for people fleeing the Turkish threat.

Ljutići is included in the Dubašnica ethnographic zone. There are farm buildings constructed using dry-stone masonry and covered with plant material or interlocking roof tiles.

Nature

The history of Dubašnica is connected with downy oak forests that grew in the fertile Dubašnica field. Dubašnica is described as a green, fertile and forested area; its name derives from a once-dense oak forest. The settlers gradually transformed the forests and pastures into cultivated land.
