Bošana: Hotels and accommodations

Bošana stretches across steep rocks above the sea and offers views of the Bay of Pag. The area around Bošana has pebble and sandy beaches surrounded by rocks. The beach area is about a 15-minute drive from the town of Pag; the sea there is cooler because of springs. The surrounding area also features a pine forest planted more recently, as well as protected oak forests near Sveta Marija and Dubrava.

Nature and trails

The 5.8 km-long linear route “Staza Pod okriljem Sv. Vida” includes a 2.9 km-long section through Bošana with beaches, viewpoints overlooking the Bay of Pag, the Dubrava-Hanzine special reserve, and the information boards “Šuma Boga Peruna” and “U prirodi nikad nisi sam”. Its starting point is at a viewpoint with a small parking area before Bošana. The route designated as Pg7 begins at this viewpoint.

Marked hiking trails to Sv. Vid lead to the summit from Šimuni, Kolan, and Dubrava, among other places. Sv. Vid, located above Bošana, can be reached via a steep and demanding hiking trail.

Landscape

Sv. Vid is the highest peak on the island of Pag and is located directly above the Bay of Pag. The chapel of Saint Vitus on Sv. Vid was built in 1348.

Nature

The Dubrava-Hanzine special forest vegetation reserve lies directly behind Bošana. It preserves remnants of the original holm oak forest and is described as the only corresponding protected natural area within the City of Pag. The vegetation in the Dubrava-Hanzine area is adapted to the harsh island climate with strong bora winds and salt spray.
