The Grad hill of Nakovanj preserves the site of an ancient Illyrian fortified settlement, which was reinforced with ramparts and walls.

Finds from Spila near Gornja Nakovana include fine Hellenistic pottery and part of a zodiac circle made of bone. The pottery was used for storing and drinking wine, for ritual feasts, and for votive offerings. The zodiac circle is associated with an astrologer's table. The finds date from around 100 BC.

Hiking

A hiking trail towards the summit of St Elijah leads through Nakovanj. The setting of the abandoned stone village provides the backdrop for a peaceful walk focused on cultural heritage.
