Culture and History

The Maritime Museum of Orebić displays nautical charts, logbooks, travel documents, ropes, pictures of famous sailing ships, and ship tools. The museum's collections include archaeological and maritime collections as well as collections of historical books.

Since the 17th century, Orebić has been an important centre of the merchant fleet of the Republic of Dubrovnik. The grand opening of the Orebić shipyard took place in 1875 during a visit by Emperor Franz Joseph.
