Rab: Hotels and Accommodation

Rab's historic town centre lies on a narrow peninsula bordered by old town walls and characterised by four church towers. Anyone wishing to book a hotel in Rab can then continue their accommodation search.

Culture

The Gradski Lapidarij Rab displays 162 stone monuments dating from the 2nd or 3rd century to the end of the 18th century. It also presents the stylistic changes in Rab's architecture in chronological order. In 2025, the Rab Tourist Board offered an organised free guided tour of the historic town centre from June to September; the tours were conducted in Croatian, English, German and Italian.

The Cathedral of the Assumption of Mary comprises a three-nave Romanesque basilica from the 12th century, which Pope Alexander III consecrated in 1177. St Justina Church houses a museum with a collection of sacred objects. The Church of the Holy Cross was built in the 13th century and later renovated; in summer, the Rab Musical Evenings take place there. The City Lodge was built in 1509 in the Renaissance style as an open, covered hall with a row of columns.

St Andrew's Benedictine Monastery has existed since the early 11th century. The three-nave church of St Andrew's Monastery was renovated in the 18th century; Romanesque elements were preserved beneath the Baroque decoration. St Andrew's bell tower is the oldest on Rab. The St John the Evangelist complex is described as Rab's only medieval sacred building with an ambulatory around the altar. St Christopher's Chapel was converted into a lapidarium and museum.

Construction of Rab's defensive walls began in the 12th or 13th century. Kula smjelih was built in the 15th century to strengthen Rab's fortress. The most significant parts of Knežev dvor palace were built in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Nature

Komrčar Park lies inland from Rab's old town. Its paths wind down around wooded hills to Rab's beaches. The 14-kilometre Rab–Maman Trail begins at Rab's town walls and leads via St Euphemia Bay, Kampor, Dumići Bay and the islet of Maman. JUXTA MARE comprises 13 discovery points along the promenade from Banjol to Barbat.

Coast

Banova Vila is a small beach in Rab next to the café of the same name. The beach has a water polo court and a ramp providing access to the sea for people with special needs. Kandarola Beach can be reached by taxi boat from Rab or Palit.

Events

The Rab Crossbowmen Association regularly holds demonstrations on 9 May, 25 June, 27 July and 15 August. The contemporary festivities of Rabska Fjera are described as a three-day celebration from 25 to 27 July. During Rabska Fjera, Rab's town becomes a stage where residents showcase traditional, artistic and handicraft works. The knightly tournament is the finale of Rabska Fjera. Rapski Križi is a votive tradition on Rab that has been practised in its present form since the 15th century.

Cuisine

Rab cake (Rabska torta) is a characteristic island souvenir made according to a closely guarded traditional recipe and associated with Rab's culinary tradition.
