Žarovnica: Hotels and Accommodation

From Žarovnica, the route to Ravna Gora leads to the Balkon viewpoint, from where there are views of the Bednja Valley, Trakošćan and the Zagorje Mountains. The Krešimir Filić mountain lodge can be reached from the Balkon viewpoint in a one-minute walk along the route from Žarovnica. Nature and Trails

Ravna Gora can be accessed via forest roads, paths and marked hiking trails. The marked easy Žarovnica–Ravna Gora (Babice) hiking trail takes 1 hour 30 minutes to walk and has an elevation difference of 454 m. A path branches off this hiking trail to the Glažareva pećina viewpoint. The Žarovnica–Ravna Gora trail passes through the forest to the rocky Babice section, which is slippery when wet.

Mountain and Activities

The Filićev dom mountain lodge on Ravna Gora has 70 beds in 16 rooms, a restaurant with a common room, kitchen and toilet, an outdoor terrace with 200 seats, as well as playgrounds for children, football and basketball; it serves food and drinks to hikers and other visitors. There are two paragliding launch sites in the Ravna Gora area, where national and world championships are frequently held.

Culture

The Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows in Žarovnica stands on Jelenec Hill above Kamenica. Construction of the present chapel began after the earlier chapel was demolished in 1742. The sacristy was painted in 1751 by Ivan Krstitelj Ranger; the chapel also contains a sacristy altar created in 1751 by a Pauline master from Lepoglava.

Regional Cuisine

In Žarovnica, the JAK and Nec restaurants serve traditional regional food and drinks, including zagorski štruklji, meso iz banjice, homemade schnapps and wine.

Leisure and Events

The Voodoo Lake Grill & Music House in Žarovnica has a children's playground. On the sandy court at the Voodoo Lake excursion site in Žarovnica, 3-on-3 volleyball was organised for the first time in the year in question. The Voodoostock Festival at Voodoo Lake in Žarovnica held its third edition in June.
