Kistanje: Hotels and Accommodations

Culture

Kistanje has two Orthodox churches: the Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas dates from around 1536, while the Orthodox Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius dates from 1890.

The Krka Monastery is located near Kistanje, about four kilometers from the town. It was founded in 1350. The ancient Roman catacombs beneath the monastery church are open to visitors. Also near Kistanje, visitors can see the arches of the command building, a military amphitheater, and the walls of the military training area in Burnum.

Nature

Near Kistanje, the path and viewpoint at Manojlovac Waterfall were cleared and reopened to visitors in 2011. Near Kistanje, the Krka Monastery can be visited from Roški slap as part of organized boat excursions from April to October.

Local

The “Dan sira i maslinovog ulja” event presented local cheeses and olive oils. It also included tastings of local products as well as a cultural and entertainment program. This event was scheduled to take place on July 24, 2025, at the Eko-Centre market in Kistanje.

At the “Buša na p'jatu” event, local family farms presented products at the Eko Market in Kistanje.

Events

Near Kistanje, Burnumske Ide is a cultural heritage festival organized every summer in Burnum by Krka National Park and continuing since 2011.
