Tisno: Hotels and Accommodations

Tisno’s historic core lies on the island side below Brošćica Hill. It preserves rural buildings made of irregular stone, characteristic galleries, sections of the original stone paving, 18th-century townhouses, and the Katunarić Palace. Culture and History

The Parish Church of the Holy Spirit was built in 1548 and restored in the Baroque style in 1640. The Church of Saint Andrew was built in 1606 on the hill of the same name south of Tisno’s island-side settlement. By the water stands the Church of Saint Roch in the part of Tisno known as Rat. The Tišnjanske Palaces preserve eleven villas.

The Feast of Gospe od Karavaja is celebrated annually in Tisno on May 26, with pilgrims from the surrounding counties and from more distant areas. The Gospe od Karavaja shrine includes a chapel built around 1720 on Brošćica Hill above Tisno.

Townscape

Tisno’s built character includes Dalmatian stone houses, narrow streets, broad squares, a long waterfront promenade, and restaurants offering predominantly traditional cuisine. The Tišnjanski most connects Murter Island with the mainland. Igre na korentu, a water-based entertainment spectacle, takes place in the strait beside Tisno’s movable bridge.

Nature and Trails

The Tisno–Jezera ecological educational trail is laid out as a lit promenade with themed rest areas presenting the flora and fauna of Murter Island. It runs between Tisno and Jezera and is promoted as a way to learn about the local flora and fauna. Coastal trails can circle Murter Island and lead back to the starting point.

Activities

Three designated cycling routes run through Tisno. Organized diving centers in Tisno cater to beginners and experienced divers. The maritime educational trail supports both freediving and scuba diving. In St. Andrew’s Bay along the Tisno–Jezera promenade, this trail has seven information panels.
