Cista Velika is home to the Crkvine archaeological park. It contains the remains of ancient secular buildings as well as early Christian and early medieval religious buildings with associated cemeteries. This means that a succession of different historical periods stands side by side at this location.

Crkvine is located approximately 200 metres south of St. Jacob Parish Church, on the road from Trilj to Imotski, which follows the ancient route of the Tilurij–Narona road. The approximate distance and this road connection place the archaeological park within Cista Velika.

Cista Velika also includes several archaeological sites. The Crljivica necropolis contains more than 80 stećci and seven medieval wells. Zadužbina contains a medieval well and a stećak necropolis. Osoje is home to a prehistoric hillfort.

Visočica is located in the immediate surroundings of Cista Velika. Grečica, Jelinak and Gornji Jelinak are located in the surrounding area of Cista Velika. Sveti Luka, Sveti Stjepan, Sveti Nikola and Gospa Lurdska are also located in the surrounding area.
