Slatine: Hotels and Accommodation

Slatine is located on the eastern side of the island of ÄŒiovo. The town combines ecclesiastical monuments, archaeological traces and a designated cycling route with a boat connection to Split and Trogir.

Culture

The parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary stands on a hill in Slatine. It was built around 1600 and contains an old painted crucifix.

Below a steep cliff rising from the sea on the southern side of ÄŒiovo stands the Church of Our Lady of Prizidnica. It was built in 1546. Inside, there is a marble altar with a painting of the Madonna and Child attributed to the Cretan school of the 16th century.

Traces of various periods can also be found outside the churches: Roman inscriptions and archaeological finds in Slatine bear witness to the influence of Roman civilisation in the area. The parish area of Slatine also contains the remains of Illyrian burial mounds.

At the Shrine of Our Lady of Prizidnica, the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary is celebrated on the first Sunday after the Feast of the Nativity of Mary.

A boat service connects Split, Slatine and Trogir; the designated landing point in Slatine is near Put Duboke Garme. Bicycles can be taken on board with an additional ticket.

Cycling

The Staza Gospe od Prizidnice route runs from Slatine via the Church of Our Lady of Prizidnica to Kava Beach and back to Slatine. It starts at Čiovo–Slatine and is designated for MTB, gravel and trekking bikes.
