Culture and History

In the center of Grohote is the Buktenica & Buktenica Gallery. It presents a permanent collection by the Šolta naive painters Eugen Buktenica Đenko and Vicko Buktenica. Art workshops and exhibitions are also held there.

The Church of Saint Stephen in Grohote stands next to the remains of an early Christian basilica dating from the period between the 1st and 6th centuries. Its restored mosaic and two adjacent sarcophagi are included in heritage tours around the church and cemetery.

The Slavić Tower (Kaštel Slavić) is a 17th-century building consisting of two interconnected towers and currently houses the offices of the Municipality of Šolta.

The area surrounding Grohote includes the islets of Otočić Saskinja, Otočić Balkun, and Otočić Polebrnjak. The wider surrounding region is also home to Kasjuni Beach.

Grohote lies at the intersection of the road connecting Stomorska and Maslinica and the road leading to the port of Rogač.
