Maslinica: Hotels and Accommodation

Culture

The Martinis-Marchi Castle in Maslinica was built in 1708 as a fortress with a courtyard and tower. As early as 1703, the Marchi brothers received permission to build a defensive tower, a village and a church above Maslinica Bay.

Marina Martinis Marchi in Maslinica offers berths for various types of vessels, as well as water and electricity, sanitary facilities, a reception desk, Wi-Fi and hospitality services. Martinis-Marchi Castle has been restored and is operated as a luxury accommodation establishment.

The parish church of St Nicholas stands on the highest hill south of Maslinica Bay. A viewpoint next to the church offers panoramic views towards the surrounding bays, Drvenik and Trogir.

Nature

On the southern side of Maslinica, there is a pine forest and hidden rocky beaches. An archipelago of seven islets lies in front of Maslinica Bay. Šipkova Bay is nearby; it is home to the only sandy beach on Šolta. There is also a designated local beach in the Punta area of Maslinica, available for swimming.

Routes and Activities

A cycle path leads from Grohote via Srednje and Donje Selo to Maslinica and can be used by bicycle or on foot. The designated cycling tour “Staza sutona nad 7 otočića” follows the route Rogač–Grohote–Maslinica–Donje Selo–Rogač. On this route, the section from Maslinica climbs over 4 km to an altitude of 170 m above sea level.

An MTB or e-MTB is recommended for the “Staza sutona nad 7 otočića”, as its singletrack descents may be too rough for gravel and trekking bikes. Kayaking from Maslinica beach is promoted as an adventure for exploring nearby islets.

Getting There

At the ferry terminal in Rogač, one of the connecting buses to Maslinica on the western side of Šolta departs.
