Čečelice lies in the Mělník Basin at an elevation of 180 to 200 meters above sea level. The Košátecký potok flows year-round through the western part of the cadastral area.
Landscape and Trails
In the direction of Konětopy, there is a spring with a flow rate of 30 liters per minute and a constant temperature. The boundary of the Kokořínsko–Máchův kraj Protected Landscape Area is located 10 km north of Čečelice.
The renovated Všetatská pěšina is intended for pedestrians and trekking bikes. The Čečelská naučná stezka educational trail forms an approximately 1 km-long, easy circular route that begins and ends in the village center by the church. It has 10 stations with information panels about local history and the area. Route No. 8241 runs from Liblice via Čečelice to U Beranovy rokle.
Church and History
The Romanesque Church of St. Havel in Čečelice preserves a tribune and a tower with battlements dating from its Romanesque construction period. It was rebuilt between 1694 and 1711. The chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary stands at the intersection of Dlážděná and U Kapličky streets and dates from 1890.
Until the first half of the 17th century, Čečelice was an independent knightly estate. The monument to Jan Hus stands in the middle of the village square in front of a former inn. The monument to Karel Havlíček Borovský in Čečelice was ceremonially unveiled on August 28, 1910.
Transport and Orientation
Railway line No. 070 between Prague and Turnov runs through the cadastral area of Čečelice. Outside the cadastral area, railway stops are located in Byšice, 1.8 km away, and Všetaty, 3 km away. Public parking areas are located in the village square around the Church of St. Havel and below the municipal office.
Events
The Čečelice Volunteer Fire Brigade regularly organizes the public event Čečelská lávka. The Čečelská Poupata participate in the Staročeské máje celebrations with processions, singing, and dancing.
