Chrást: Hotels and Accommodation

Chrást combines a long local history with preserved memorial sites, traditional festivals, and the flat landscape of the Polabská Plain. The first mention associated with Chrást dates back to 1345.

History and Monuments

Chrást was created by merging the two villages of Chrást and Manderscheid. František Josef re-established Chrást in 1776 after the buildings of the former estate, together with part of the land, had been sold to subjects.

Among the heritage-listed structures in Chrást is a wooden bell tower. The monument to local victims of the First World War is also part of the town's history: it is made of Hořice sandstone and was unveiled in 1924. The monument commemorates 20 fallen soldiers from the battlefields of the First World War, as well as members of the Czechoslovak Legions in Russia.

Landscape and Surroundings

Chrást is located in the flat Polabská Plain. The Kersko recreation area, associated with the writer Bohumil Hrabal, is nearby. The Bohumil Hrabal educational trail in nearby Kersko has 13 stops.

The proximity of the D11 motorway is also part of the area's geographical setting: Chrást lies near the D11 motorway, which connects Prague with Hradec Králové.

Traditions Throughout the Year

Several traditional events shape the year in Chrást. The traditional Vítovská pouť pilgrimage is celebrated on 15 June, while the traditional Posvícení takes place every year on the first Sunday in November. The traditional Staročeské máje festival is held in Chrást every two years.
