Chleby Zoo was founded on June 5, 1997, based on the previous animal collection of the Fraňek couple. It is home to more than 420 animals from 120 or more species. In 2004, Chleby Zoo became the first official non-governmental zoo in the Czech Republic in the post-revolution era.

Nature

The offerings include experience programs in which visitors can try out the work of animal keepers. The zoo also offers educational programs led by a guide for kindergartens and the first and second stages of primary school.

Culture

The foundation stone for the Roman Catholic church in Chleby was laid on May 8, 1780. The Church of St. Lawrence in Chleby was completed two years after construction began. The Reformed Toleration Congregation in Chleby was founded in 1783. The Evangelical Church in Chleby was built between 1885 and 1888 in the Neo-Romanesque style.

Geographical setting

The Chleby waterway belongs to the current fishing grounds of the Nymburk anglers. The 36 km-long cycling route “From Nymburk to the zoo and Loučeň Chateau” also passes through Chleby.

Bus route 673 runs directly from Nymburk railway station to Chleby.
