Kadlín: Hotels and Accommodation

The Hradišť observation tower stands on a hill above Kadlín. Its covered viewing platform is 15 metres above the ground.

Nature and Views

From the Hradišť observation tower, you can see Bezděz, Ralsko, Ještěd, the Jizera Mountains, the Krkonoše Mountains, Milešovka in the České středohoří highlands and Říp. The view also includes nearby Vrátenská hora, with an observation tower in the Polomené hory hills.

From Kadlín, wooden signposts marked “Hradišť” point to the Hradišť observation tower. From there, an asphalt path of less than half a kilometre leads to the tower. The Hradišť educational trail provides information about plants, mixtures of old Bohemian meadow plants sown along the path, and benches with panels about mammals, insects and birds of the regional landscape.

Culture and History

The Church of St James the Greater in Kadlín was mentioned as a parish church as early as 1384. It was originally Gothic and was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1724. The protected church complex includes the bell tower, the ossuary chapel, the surrounding wall and the plots within the enclosed grounds.

The Rural Blacksmith Exhibition in Kadlín presents the home and workshop of a village blacksmith, with hammers, tongs and a forge, as well as products made using these tools. The exhibition of old agricultural machinery includes ploughs, seed drills and threshing machines, among other items.

The Exhibition of Hoes displays a hoe found on Hradišť, a historical museum piece, hoes made in the forge and a hoe from the 21st century. At the exhibition of the region’s field crops, visitors can hold rye, wheat and barley, rub them between their fingers and smell them, as well as learn about 15 different decimal scales.
