Dolní Zimoř: Hotels and Accommodations
Dolní Zimoř lies in a narrow valley of the Želízská svodnice and belongs to the Kokořínsko folk architecture region. The village therefore combines a clearly distinctive landscape with preserved traces of regional building traditions.
Landscape and Nature
In terms of landscape, the municipality lies within the Kokořínsko area and the Kokořín and Mšeno landscape region. Characteristic features include gorge-like valleys with sandstone rocks weathered to varying degrees, wooded slopes, and meadows on the valley floors.
On the northern side of the Zimořský důl, a rocky section is protected as the Želízky Nature Monument. The nature monument preserves a warm-favored habitat along the rock edges, with rare and endangered plant and animal communities, including the leafless iris (Iris aphylla) and the meadow pasque flower (
Pulsatilla pratensis). The Zimořský důl and the adjacent slopes also belong to particularly valuable areas within the Natura 2000 network and to the Kokořínsko biotope.
For short walks around Dolní Zimoř, the path in the Zimořský důl is particularly popular. However, access to the Želízky Nature Monument leads through pathless terrain; the site is more than 250 meters from the road.
Paths and Orientation
Dolní Zimoř lies away from the main traffic routes; only three third-class roads pass through the municipality. About eight visitor parking spaces are located in front of the municipal office. A sidewalk runs along the road to Želízy, and the path between Dolní Zimoř and Horní Zimoř is considered suitable and largely accessible.
A hiking trail branches off from the shared hiking and cycling route between Želízy and Kokořín toward Sitné and Vidim. A cycle path to Vysoká also leads from the same route.
Building Traditions and Community Life
Some buildings in Dolní Zimoř, particularly in Horní Zimoř and south of the road to Želízy, have preserved their original, characteristic character. Community events held in Dolní Zimoř include a summer gathering at the sports field.
