Mochov: Hotels and accommodations

In Mochov, the historical arc stretches from the Bronze Age to the modern era. The archaeological area encompasses the Bronze Age, the Knovíz and Štítary cultures, as well as periods from the Middle Ages to the modern era. An archaeological burial ground dating from the Migration Period (5th–6th century AD) was also discovered at the site.

Culture and history

The Gothic Church of St. Bartholomew in Mochov was built in the second half of the 14th century on the site of an earlier chapel and has been documented as a parish church since 1352. On the north side of the presbytery is a Gothic chapel that served as a sacristy at the beginning of the 20th century.

Inside, the high altar dates from 1695; its front, the antependium, is decorated with carved ornaments. A monument to Jan Hus by the artist Josef Škoda has stood in Mochov Square since 1928. The monument includes a memorial plaque commemorating those who fell in both world wars.

Leisure

The Na Hrázce leisure centre in Mochov is intended for sports, games and recreation. The traditional “Pálení čarodějnic” festival was scheduled to take place in Mochov on 30 April 2026, featuring live music, children’s Zumba, children’s competitions, witch-slime making, airbrush tattoos, a workshop for making giant soap bubbles, food and the lighting of a witches’ bonfire.
