Nove Jirny: Hotels and accommodations

The Neoclassical Chapel of Saint Rosalia stands in the village square of Nové Jirny; it dates from 1872. PID bus route 353 serves the “Jirny, Nové Jirny, Kaplička” and “Jirny, Nové Jirny, Hájovna” stops.

Culture

In the forest of Nové Jirny, the Chapel of the Virgin Mary with a small bell tower was built in 1914 at a place called “V zadních dubinách”. The builders were members of the Jirny Beautification Association. Nové Jirny is also home to the Saint Hubertus Monument, commemorating Saint Hubert, the patron saint of beaters and hunters. It is located along the connecting path across a meadow towards Jirny.

Nature

The NRBC 5 – Vidrholec biocenter lies behind the Nové Jirny district and is a functioning biocenter covering an area of 1,000 hectares. The Vidrholec biocenter located behind Nové Jirny includes the Cyrilov Nature Reserve. Its protected features include purple moor-grass and bilberry oak forests, variable birch populations, the floodplain ecotype of the hornbeam, as well as old oaks and pines.

Events

A Christmas tree lighting ceremony was held in Nové Jirny on November 26, 2022. On November 30, 2024, the Christmas tree in the village square beneath the chapel was illuminated. A traditional Children's Day was held on the meadow in Nové Jirny on June 8, 2024, as it is every year.
