Úvaly: Hotels and Accommodations

Úvaly is home to the Devět kanálů railway viaduct. It is 135 meters long and up to 13 meters high. A paved path leads beneath the viaduct, along the Výmola stream, and back to the other end of the square in Úvaly.

Culture and History

The Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation is a cultural monument and acquired its present-day Baroque appearance after a renovation completed in 1724. Arnošt z Pardubic Square is home to a statue of Archbishop Arnošt z Pardubic, which was unveiled on June 30, 1869.

In the center of Úvaly stands Prokůpkův mlýn, also known as Dolní mlýn or Sýkorův mlýn. The mill is just a few steps from the railway station.

Southwest of Úvaly lies Skara, a castle ruin on a broad, spur-shaped hill above the Výmola stream. The site preserves a rampart-like remnant of the perimeter fortification and traces of a building with at least two rooms, probably a palace.

Nature and Trails

The Městská stezka Úvaly begins at the railway station, crosses the square, and continues into the countryside. As an educational trail, it provides information about the history, notable buildings, and places of Úvaly and its surroundings, and also leads to the Vinice lookout tower.

The Vinice lookout tower is about 650 meters from the square in Úvaly, with approximately 50 meters of elevation gain.

The hills of Dolánka [Tismice], (Ny Vyhlídce) [Český Brod-Štolmíř], and (Na Spravedlnosti) [Český Brod] are also located in the wider regional area around Úvaly. Velké Benátky is an island there.
