Úhonice: Hotels and accommodations

A prominent landmark of Úhonice is the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary. It was built between 1896 and 1898 in the Neo-Romanesque style according to plans by Eduard Sochor, replacing an older Gothic church dating from 1615. Next to the church stands a Baroque cemetery chapel from 1799.

Culture

Úhonice is first mentioned as a parish village near Unhošť as early as 1143. Since the monastery was founded in 1143, the village belonged to Strahov Monastery; its abbots established a parish church there before 1358.

The Úhonice steam mill with a pond at Jenečská and Na Hrázi No. 81 is listed as an immovable cultural monument. The niche chapel of Saint Florian is also listed as an immovable cultural monument. The built-up area of Úhonice is additionally designated as a Category UAN I archaeological area dating from the Middle Ages to the modern era.

The façade of the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Úhonice faces the Franciscan monastery in Hájek; in this context, the church and monastery are considered a spiritual unit.

The Úhonice steam mill was founded around 1907 by Václav Klatovský. Grain was milled there for forty years.

As part of the Night of Churches event on 29 May 2026, the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary was open to visitors from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. There was also a guided tour with commentary of the church, tower, and organ.

Nature

There are extensive forested areas in the western part of the Úhonice area. West of Úhonice, there is also a diverse landscape with pronounced relief, particularly a valley leading toward the ponds. Four notable trees in Úhonice are designated as protected memorial trees.

Geographical location

Regular bus route 307 connects Úhonice with Praha-Zličín, including Metro Line B station, as well as with Unhošť.
