Chvaleč: Hotels and Accommodation

Chvaleč lies on the northern edge of the Rtyně-Svatoňovice Basin, in the immediate vicinity of the Czech-Polish border.

Geographical Location

The Czech-Polish border runs across the 697-metre-high Janský vrch, which is crossed by an educational trail. The drinkable mineral water from the spring beneath Janský vrch was already known for its beneficial effects during the Austro-Hungarian era and, thanks to careful construction work, has preserved its unique composition to this day.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint James the Elder in Chvaleč is a protected cultural monument and dates back to 1706. A line of historic fortifications dating from 1937 to 1938 runs through Petříkovice; several of these structures are gradually being renovated as open-air museums. A reconstructed replica of the original chapel was built in Petříkovice between 2002 and 2008.

Activities

The Chvaleč–Petříkovice educational trail is an approximately 6 km circular route that starts at the car park by the swimming pool in Petříkovice. It passes by the spring beneath the rocks and continues to a remarkable rock formation known as Krausova vyhlídka. The trail's information stops describe local attractions as well as the area's flora and fauna.

The swimming pool complex in Chvaleč is open from May to the end of September and is located in a quiet part of the municipality in the direction of Adršpach. The swimming pool in Petříkovice is located in the central part of the village. The complex there has a fire-water reservoir suitable for swimming, toilets, an outdoor shower, refreshments and a car park; swimming is at your own risk.

A ski school and a small lift for children and complete beginners operate daily in the Petříkovice ski area. The ski area offers well-groomed slopes and family-friendly skiing.
