Borovnicka: Hotels and accommodations
Borovnička is a stop on the Cesta kamene, a route connecting significant sites of stone extraction and processing in the Podkrkonoší region. The village combines this cultural and historical legacy with widely scattered development in the valley of the Borecký potok, a right-bank tributary of the Labe.
Landscape and trails
A green-marked hiking trail runs through Borovnička. Cycle Route No. 4135 also passes through the village; a forest rest area was established alongside it in 2020.
Getting around
Borovnička has a railway stop. The village is also served by buses.
Culture and history
The defining landmark of Borovnička is the Church of the Divine Heart of the Lord, also called the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. Construction began in 1928, and the church was consecrated in 1933; it was built in the Pseudo-Gothic style.
The memorial to the fallen of the First World War bears the names of 55 war victims. It was completely destroyed and restored by the municipality in 2021. Another historical trace dates back to the 19th century: at that time, flax was grown, combed, spun, and woven in the vicinity of Borovnička.
Near the school stands the Holy Trinity sculptural group, with an inscription from 1891 and a restoration inscription from 1904. The Červený kříž cross commemorates the village of Vidovice, which was burned down by the Swedes during the Thirty Years' War.
Linhartův mlýn a pila are already marked on the map of the First Military Survey of 1764–1768. The complex was rebuilt in 1926 and renovated again in 2006. At Klebš on the edge of the forest, there is also a sculptural group of John the Baptist with a biblical verse in German and an inscription dating from 1863.
