Koberwald: Hotels and accommodations

For Koberwald, specific natural and cultural sites are the main focus: Along the southern and western edges of Mount Sokol, the Besedické skály form two sandstone labyrinths, Kalich and Chléviště.

Nature and trails

The Chléviště area comprises narrow gorges and rock shelters; numerous viewpoints offer views over the Jizera Valley. The six-kilometre circular route Kolem Besedických skal runs along an asphalt road and offers views of Kozákov, the Klokočské skály and Trosky Castle. A ten-kilometre section of the Zlatá stezka Českého ráje leads through Koberovy and continues via Hamštejn to Kozákov.

Marked cycling routes also provide access to named points: The marked cycle route through Koberovy ends in the Jizera Valley, where it connects to the Greenway Jizera. Another marked cycle route passes the chapel of Besedice, via Michovka to Zbirohy and its castle ruins.

Viewpoints

In good visibility, Rozhledna Hamštejn offers an almost complete panoramic view of the rock towns of Český ráj and towards Trosky. The observation tower is 25 metres high and built of steel and wood; the viewing platform is approximately 22 metres above the ground and can be reached via 121 steps.

History and culture

The Zbirohy castle ruins were built on the Zbirohy rock in the 14th century and are located in the administrative area of Koberovy. Its residential tower is nicknamed Kazatelnice. The castle ruins are freely accessible year-round.

The Kalich rock labyrinth consists of five gorges and contains an altar carved into the rock with a chalice and the year 1638.

Event

Lesní běh Kalichem was held in 2023 as its 46th edition and again in 2024 at Areál Kalich Besedice in Koberovy.
