Klokočí U Turnova: Hotels and accommodations
The 70-meter-long Klokočské průchody form a rock staircase providing access from the municipality of Klokočí to the Klokočské skály area. A red-marked hiking trail leads through the Klokočské průchody to a trail junction. From Klokočí, the Rotštejn Castle ruins also provide an access point to the Klokočské skály.
Nature
The Klokočské skály Nature Reserve is an exceptionally large, continuous rock complex of Cretaceous origin and includes the remains of a relict pine forest. The weathering of less resistant parts of the rock and other geomorphological processes created caves, rock arches, tunnels, rock mushrooms, and rock towers there. The Klokočské skály are one of fourteen unique sandstone areas in the Český ráj Geopark that are also known as rock cities because of their appearance.
The Postojna–Amerika Cave is located in the Zelený důl valley and is the only accessible cave in the Klokočské skály. In winter, it is closed because bats are breeding there.
History and Culture
The romantic ruins of Rotštejn Castle lie on the outermost edge of the Klokočské skály Nature Reserve. Rotštejn Castle was founded around 1250. A trade route already passed through the Klokočské průchody in the Middle Ages.
The Boží muka in Klokočí are a monument to folk stone art from the mid-18th century and a surviving example of donations commissioned by local farmers. Václav Vlček, a farmer from Klokočí, is named as the patron for the year 1847.
