Loukov preserves a medieval village layout, considered the only surviving remnant of its medieval development. In the historic village center, this inherited structure is reflected in a narrow, slightly irregular rectangular village square. It is lined with farmsteads featuring irregularly rectangular courtyards and three-sided buildings on medieval plots bordered by stone walls.
Culture
The traditional architecture of Loukov consists primarily of wooden houses, wooden granaries, and other farm buildings. A large part of the surviving buildings dates from the second half of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. The archaeological site of Loukov Fortress is also part of the village's history: archaeological finds indicate that it was inhabited from the 14th to the 16th century. The site is freely accessible.
The Church of Saint Stanislaus of Kraków in Loukov is a late Baroque stone church built between 1786 and 1795. The parish church in Loukov is first documented in 1352. The church has four bells, including one from the 16th century and three acquired in 1977. The complex of the Church of Saint Stanislaus in Loukov also includes a parish house, barns, and two cemeteries.
The old cemetery by the church, which is no longer in use, is enclosed by a low sandstone wall. The site includes an octagonal Baroque chapel from the second half of the 18th century and an altar by the sculptor AntonÃn Sucharda.
Tradition
The pilgrimage in honor of Saint Stanislaus takes place annually in Loukov on May 8.
Nature
The landscape in the municipality of Háje nad Jizerou is considered highly suitable for hiking and cycling. The Greenway Jizera cycle route, KČT No. 17, is currently also routed via Paseky nad Jizerou, Sklenařice, Vysoké nad Jizerou, Škodějov, and Loukov. This is because continuity in the Jizera Valley between Hornà Sytová and Paseky nad Jizerou is difficult.
