Chuchelna: Hotels and accommodations

The municipality of Chuchelna stretches from the summit of Kozákov to the left bank of the Jizera. Chuchelna is also an important part of the Český ráj Geopark under the auspices of UNESCO.

Landscape and geology

Volcanic activity around 260 million years ago made Kozákov famous as a site where agates, jaspers, and amethysts are found. On the left bank of the Jizera lies Krkavčí skála, a viewpoint approximately 100 m above the river. The rock is one of seven geological stations in the Kozákov microregion. From Krkavčí skála, there is a view of the Jizera Canyon and the Medenec opposite.

Trails and leisure

Ten marked hiking trails lead to Kozákov, including the Zlatá stezka Českého ráje. The Kozákov educational trail leads to Drábovna through the Měsíční údolí valley and ends at the Radostná spring. The 744 m-high summit has three paragliding launch sites on its west, south, and north sides.

The public platform of the observation tower on Kozákov is 24 m high, can be reached via 124 steps, and offers a panoramic view. The observation tower on Kozákov has been open to the public since April 22, 1995.

Cycle route 4176 runs through the administrative area of Chuchelna along the route Újezd pod Troskami – Rovensko pod Troskami – Bačov – Semily. The Chuchelna, Kozákov chata stop is served only during the summer season, approximately from mid-May to mid-September, as part of the bicycle bus service with expanded bicycle capacity.

On the northern slope of Kozákov, a 450 m-long ski lift operates when there is sufficient snow. Koupaliště Chuchelna is an outdoor swimming pool with day tickets.

Culture and events

The Calvary group in Chuchelna is a Baroque sandstone work from 1734 and is registered as an immovable cultural monument. It depicts Christ on the cross, with the Sorrowful Virgin Mary and Saint John the Evangelist on either side.

The traditional Chuchelna pilgrimage is listed for June 2025, 2026, and 2027. The municipality’s event calendar lists the Májový pochod for 2025 and 2026. It leads from Chuchelna via Kozákov and Rotštejn to Dolánky.
