Litovel: Hotels and Accommodation
Litovel combines traces of its historic past with a river landscape and a regional brewing tradition. A good starting point is the “Historie a příroda Litovle a okolí” educational trail: it is 3.5 kilometres long and designed as an easy hiking route. All three circular routes on this trail begin and end within Litovel’s built-up urban area.
History
The “Historická Litovel” circular route traces the town’s history since its foundation in the 13th century and leads to architecturally noteworthy buildings in the historic centre. These include Litovel Town Hall, which is already mentioned in a surviving parchment document from 1287 and has been rebuilt several times in the Late Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles.
When Přemysl Otakar Square was redesigned in 2014, an 8.5-metre-long and 7-metre-wide stone bridge over the Nečíz, with its preserved paving, was uncovered. The bridge probably dates back to the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries.
Culture
The Litovel Museum is housed in the original building of a shooting range from the 19th century. The permanent exhibition “Litovelská řemesla 1. poloviny 20. století” presents local crafts from the first half of the 20th century. It is continually expanded and changed with new and interesting objects.
A separate collection is housed in the Muzeum harmonik, which contains around 330 accordions from almost 40 Czech and foreign manufacturers. Some instruments are more than 150 years old; visitors can try out the sound of selected accordions or heligons for themselves.
Food and Drink
The tour of the Litovel Brewery provides an insight into the traditional production of Litovel beers. It leads through the brewhouse and cellars as well as the brewery museum and ends with a beer tasting. Litovel Brewery has been growing together with the Haná region for more than 130 years.
Nature
The Nečíz is one of six branches of the Morava River that flow through Litovel. The hill U hranic [Uničov-Dětřichov] is located nearby. The Rampach hill is situated in the vicinity of Litovel. The Skalice and Skalka mountains are each located in the wider regional surroundings of Litovel.
Surroundings
The wider regional surroundings of Litovel also include Hrad Brníčko Castle, the Pomník obětem 1. a 2. světové války monument, Kostel Panny Marie Sněžné Church and Kostel sv.Michala Church.
