Horní Loděnice combines a distinctive church building with a long local history, the Sovinecko Nature Park, and paths through the countryside. Its location on an important road and terrain for cross-country skiing are also among the defining features of the village.
Culture and History
The Church of St. Isidore is a distinctive landmark of Horní Loděnice. The present building was erected in the last quarter of the 19th century on the foundations of an earlier church. The first mention of Horní Loděnice appears in a Latin document from 1296.
The history of the village also includes iron ore mines that existed there from the Middle Ages – even in the middle of what is now the village. Another historical trace stands on the forest road to the Bělkovické Valley: there is a masonry wayside shrine. In 2025, the maypole was erected and felled in Horní Loděnice.
Nature and Trails
The Sovinecko Nature Park extends into the administrative area of Horní Loděnice. The Trusovický Brook flows through the village from north to south. Cycling routes 6129, 6029, and 6009 run through Horní Loděnice along road III/44430 and designated paths.
Location and Winter
Horní Loděnice lies on road I/46 between Olomouc, Šternberk, Moravský Beroun, and Opava. In winter, terrain for cross-country skiing is also part of what the village offers.
