History and Local Traditions

The Lukavice hody are based primarily on church history and the traditions of the ancestors. The major Lukavice hody are celebrated on the feast of Saint Wenceslas, 28 September. If this day falls on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, the major Lukavice hody take place on the preceding Sunday; if it falls on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday, they are celebrated on the following Sunday. The minor Lukavice hody take place in July for the feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius.

Culture

On the village square in front of house no. 30 stands the Smírčí kříž, a monument dating from the 16th century. The Chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius in Lukavice was built in 1937 at the expense of the municipality. It stands on the village square in the centre of Lukavice next to the municipal office.

By the River

The boat return point in Lukavice is located on the right bank of the river by a weir and is approximately a 12-minute walk from Lukavice railway station.
