Leština: Hotels and Accommodation
Leština lies on the left bank of the Morava River. Historically, the village stood on an important transport route across the river; tolls were already being collected on the bridge built there in the 16th century.
Nature
Around half of the Pod Trlinou Nature Reserve lies within the cadastral area of Leština. The nature reserve protects near-natural forest communities as well as a preserved section of the cultural landscape with meadows, pastures and field margins.
The Leštinské tůně have been designated as a temporarily protected area since 2000. In 2003, three previously vanished pools at the Leštinské tůně were restored for the reproduction of amphibians and newts.
Visitors to the ornithological ringing station in Leština can observe ornithologists at work catching birds, with expert explanations. Every year, the station holds an open day for children and adults as part of the European Bird Festival.
Culture
Leština has been documented in historical sources since 1392; the earlier settlement of Zálavčí appears in a record from 1371. The Chapel of St. Wenceslas in Leština was built in 1754. Masses and occasional classical music concerts are regularly held in the chapel.
The traditional Leštinské hody in Leština feature amusement rides and market stalls. The traditional “Velikonoční Leština” event at the Sokolovna in Leština includes the “Vo Leštěnské mazanec” competition, an Easter market, a creative workshop for children and a singing performance.
Things to Do
The “Pochod kolem Leštiny” is designed as an entertaining walk in nature with family-oriented activities. On 28 August 2026, it starts at 4:00 p.m. at Čapí hnízdo and follows a 5 km route.
The “Leštinská třicítka” offers hiking routes of 13 km, 20 km and 35 km, as well as a 40 km cycling route. The 2.3 km shared cycling and walking path from Zábřeh to Leština, which is moderately challenging, is suitable for cyclists, inline skaters and pedestrians and connects Zábřeh with Leština.
