Palonín: Hotels and accommodation

The history of Palonín goes back a long way: the first written mention of the village dates from 1353. Archaeological excavations near Palonín suggest that a Slavic settlement existed there from the 9th century. The painter and illustrator Stanislav Lolek is also associated with Palonín; he illustrated the book The Cunning Little Vixen.

Another protected example of the local architectural heritage is the listed farmstead No. 36. It comprises two buildings arranged around a wall with a gateway. The farmstead includes a residential building, a dower house, and a courtyard with arcades, a barn, and stables.

Palonín lies at an elevation of 272 metres at the southern tip of the so-called Mohelnická brázda in the Šumperk District. The municipality covers 537 hectares of predominantly fertile land. Its territory extends into the catchment area of the Morava River.

Skalka Mountain is located in the vicinity of Palonín. Nearby are Mlýnský vrch Hill [Bílá Lhota-Řimice] and Třesín Hill [Bílá Lhota-Měník]. In the wider regional surroundings of Palonín are Hrad Brníčko Castle, Husák Mountain, the Memorial to the Victims of the First and Second World Wars, and the chapels Kaple Panny Marie Lurdské and Kaple Panny Marie.

The Bílá Lhota Arboretum covers a three-hectare park area. There, you can visit an alpine garden and an aviary with exotic birds, visit the chateau, stroll around the pond, and play a game of giant chess.

For cyclists, cycle route No. 6204 leads from Loštice through Palonín and continues towards Červená Lhota and Bílá Lhota.
