Úhřetice: Hotels and accommodations

History

The first written mention of Úhřetice dates from 1392. Until 1586, the village remained part of the Rychmburk estate. After 1586, Markéta Trčková z Lípy founded an extensive farm estate on the southeastern edge of the village. This also included the former Úhřetice Chateau, which she had built for possible stays in Úhřetice. The former chateau burned down in 1807 and was not rebuilt.

Culture

The “Tuněchody brickyard” archaeological area, classified as category ÚAN I, is designated as an important archaeological site. It lies around the Tuněchody brickyard, mainly to the south, southeast, and east of it; Úhřetice is also among the listed cadastral areas. The Tuněchody brickyard was declared a cultural monument in 2000. The archaeological area is associated with the Silesian-Platěnice culture, the La Tène period, the Roman Imperial period, the transition from the Early to the High Middle Ages, the High Middle Ages, and the Late Middle Ages.

The Chapel of Saint Wenceslas stands in the center of Úhřetice as the only more prominent building. The former Úhřetice Chateau is located in an area that is not accessible to the public.

Events

Traditional events in Úhřetice include burning witch effigies, masquerade balls, a Three Kings celebration associated with a charitable campaign, and St. Nicholas events.

Landscape and transport

Úhřetice lies between the Novohradka and Chrudimka rivers. The municipality is situated on the left bank of the Novohradka and the right bank of the Chrudimka. Two ponds lie on the western edge of Úhřetice.

Marked local cycling routes run through Úhřetice. The Chrudim–Holice railway line also runs along the southern edge of the village.
