Šedivec: Hotels and Accommodation
Šedivec is a small mountain village on a hill rising from the valley of the Tichá Orlice. The hill slopes down toward the Divoká Orlice and the Nekořský potok. The surrounding area includes the Vysoký Kámen, Suchý vrch, Velká Suchá and Buková hora mountains; the Nový Hrad ruins are located in the wider regional surroundings of Šedivec.
Nature and Trails
The Bažantnice–Obora educational trail provides information about the history and present of forest management, historical context and the natural features of the area. It ends at Šedivec–Obora by a former forester’s lodge. The end of the educational trail near Šedivec is served by buses; alternatively, it is possible to return to Letohrad.
A blue-marked hiking route runs from Letohrad through Šedivec to Nekoř. Cycle Route 4074 also leads to Šedivec: it is signposted with a white band marking and reaches the village after crossing road I/11.
History and Architectural Heritage
The first written mention of Šedivec dates from 1539. At the foot of the hill above Šedivec stands the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary; its construction was completed in 1898.
